WHen I have imported my media files - do I just allow AVID to index automatically when it launches or do I need to delete these data base files so it reindexes?Ĭan I do it in stages.I.e Can I Keep adding new media files (so I can start work) and then add some of the footage Im not using now later - and just keep relaunching avid or do I have to remove the data index files each time.įINALLY and most importantly once I have my Avid MediaFiles in a new MFX 1 folder - with a New Project - how do I get to read my bins and sequences Ive already cut so it's essentially as I had it? In the NEW Avid MediaFiles / MFX/ 1 folder there is now two database files named named msmFMID.pmr and msmMMOB.mdb (from the import of the song)

IF THIS BATCH Works can I just MOVE the rest so I dont use up all the memory on this harddrive?ĪLSO I want to check ahead of time as you havent really indicated how I complete the process and get to work on my project linked to the media again - so to complete the next stage I'd a appreciate (assuming this will work) a full explanation of how to rebuild the project and bins etc. This could take ages as I have alot of data I have imported into AVID. I am now transporting - via copy and paste - media into the new MFX 1 folder from the xAvid Mediafiles folder with the old media in it. That seemed to do the trick and it set up a new Avid MediaFiles on the external harddrive with a new MFX file and folder 1

The only way I could get media into this new project in Avid, quickly, was by importing a song from the external drive in question.

I will try your suggestion ( Something you can try is renaming the Avid MediaFiles folder on your external drive to xAvid MediaFiles. Nevertheless it should not be connected and I have no idea why AVID is not rebuilding from the files in Avid Mediafiles?

The ONLY thing I have done in between is to do an APPLE MAC disk verify and disk repair on both the hardrive of my computer and the external hardrive (the mac book pro had a hardrive fault but its been repaired ) and the external harddrive and Apple harddrive are verified and fine. I do have on my Apple Mac computer a few other Avid MediaFile bins relating to other projects but not this project. I looked into the folder and no new files. So it seems AVID has not rebuilt the links to the Avid mediafiles after I removed all the files that you suggested from each of the folders.

These appear rather random as some of these are from the same hardrive and are archive footage too! In other words all my project media - including tapes I digitised for it and were working fine (before I removed those two file names you suggested from each Avid Mediafile folder) on the external hardrive and were working before. Hi Camoscato, Just a little more info so you can help work out a solution -Īll the media has now gone off line except tiny fragments.
